Echoes of Takbir and the Spirit of Sharing at Patal Senayan
The celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri at the LDII Central Executive Board (DPP LDII) headquarters in Patal Senayan, South Jakarta, began solemnly and vibrantly from dawn on Thursday (May 28). The sounds of cattle and goats filled the air, signaling the start of the sacrificial animal slaughtering process.
Beyond being an annual religious ritual, the occasion became a tangible demonstration of mutual cooperation among members of the Baitul Ma'wa Islamic study assembly and LDII Senayan branch members in managing and distributing sacrificial meat to the wider community.
Sincere Sacrifice, Sincere Sharing
Amid the busy preparations, LDII Chairman Dody Taufiq Wijaya emphasized that the essence of qurban extends far beyond the act of animal slaughter. According to him, qurban serves as a bridge that strengthens brotherhood, social solidarity, and compassion among people.
This year's main theme was expressed through the slogan: "Sincere in Sacrifice, Sincere in Sharing."
"In addition to increasing our devotion to God, this act of worship encourages us to share and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among fellow human beings," said Dody Taufiq Wijaya during the event.
He explained that the sequence of worship activities, from the Day of Arafah fasting to the Eid al-Adha prayer, reaches its culmination through the social mission of distributing sacrificial meat. The collaboration between congregation members and local residents reflects the strong social bonds built through collective work.
Halal Standards and Environmental Responsibility
LDII's qurban implementation follows strict preparation and standards. Prior to Eid al-Adha, members received comprehensive education through halal slaughtering workshops and training sessions conducted in collaboration with the Indonesian Halal Slaughterers Association (JULEHA) and the Food Security, Marine Affairs, and Agriculture Agency.
The objective is clear: ensuring that every sacrificial animal is processed according to Islamic law while maintaining hygiene and food safety standards.
Furthermore, LDII actively promotes an environmentally friendly initiative known as "Eco-Qurban." Organizational branches across Indonesia are encouraged to reduce conventional plastic usage and adopt sustainable packaging solutions.
"We encourage all levels of LDII organizations to use recyclable packaging, such as biodegradable plastic or traditional woven bamboo containers, to reduce environmental waste," Dody Taufiq Wijaya explained.
Sanitation and waste management are also prioritized. Organizers are required to maintain cleanliness throughout the slaughtering process and properly manage blood and organic waste to prevent environmental contamination.
Supporting Local Economy and Food Security
Beyond its spiritual significance, Eid al-Adha is viewed by LDII as an important contributor to local economic activity and community welfare. The distribution of sacrificial meat helps improve access to animal protein, particularly for families who rarely enjoy such nutrition.
"For many people whose protein intake is limited, qurban can provide meaningful nutritional support. This is why the impact of qurban extends beyond worship, reaching economic development and national food security," Dody Taufiq Wijaya stated.
Through this initiative, LDII hopes that the values of sincerity, generosity, and social responsibility demonstrated during Eid al-Adha will continue to flourish and become a permanent part of everyday community life.
